If my M/L reQuests die, these will be the top contender as a replacement. Made here in Minnesota.

I've got 3.6's, too. Wouldnt it be great if Magnepan offered a trade-up or upgrade ?

Mark

If you want to 'upgrade' your 3.6R's -- start tweating them ma-boy... Mye Stands - Better x-overs- bi amp - they'll be better the the 3.7's then.....

Here's the first useful feedback about them I've seen so far:  http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/CES-Day-Two-Notes

"The Bryston / Magnepan suite was even more impressive. The new Magnepan 3.7 loudspeakers were spectacular in this system. Plenty of bottom end and crystal clear sound over the entire supported frequency response. I haven't heard a pair of "old" 3.6s in far too long to compare the sound with the new 3.7s. I encourage all CA readers to hear a demonstration of the new 3.7s. The price to performance ratio is off the charts. The 3.7s start at $5500 for the pair and go up from there depending on finish."

Checked with the local dealer today to see when I can audition them. Since we're in the home territory (Minneapolis) it will be right after CES. I can hardly wait....

I will. I'll try to be objective but I am a huge fan of these speakers so don't expect too many negatives. What I'm most interested in is a widening of the sweet spot which is kind of narrow on the 1.7s. The showroom is perfect for them (off the back walls about 5 ft - 5-6 ft. off the sidewalls) and my listening room is not so it might be difficult to determine.

Are you going to Audio Perfection?
That's a great shop.

I wonder how the 3.7 will compare to the 3.6 or if it will just be a little different..

How do you like the 1.7s?

Yes, AP is the place. They do a great job setting up speakers for demo.

I absolutely love the 1.7s. I can't say enough good things about them especially for the price. I was waiting for the 3.7s to come out but couldn't hold out so I bought the 1.7s as an interim rig. I wish I had a place to use them when (if) I upgrade but no room here so they will most likely go on sale.

It will also be interesting to hear what you think of the 3.7 versus your 1.7.
Keep us posted! (or me if you don't mind  :D)

I heard this at CES/The Show...very impressive, I was looking for the sub...was either well hidden or those panels were reaching down deep.  :thumb:

Sounding good to me!  Several sources have commented about the bass...  Not the first feedback I'd expect from a Magnepan demo.

I took just one snap in the Magnepan room...xcuse the low res pic.

I see three amps on the  floor, dunno what the center unit was, a sub maybe?

As long as I can afford something, Lynda's just fine with whatever I do.  I got lucky and a good one found me.
I'm with Steve K, I want a red set, too!
I see that they still have those goofy little feet - I guess it's tradition.

Those are Bryston monoblocks, either 7BSST or 28BSST squared series (looks more like 28's but can't be sure from the picture).  Magnepan is currently showing with Bryston amps at CES.  I would guess the third amp is powering the barely visible center speaker.
