 I have for sale a beautiful pair of GR Reseach N3S (sealed type) monitor speakers in new condition finished in natural cherry with multiple coats of hand rubbed polyurethane. These speakers have all the performance upgrade options ( Sonicap capacitors, Mills resistors, No-Rez damping treatment) plus Platinum bypass capacitors. These speakers use the same drivers and crossovers as the N3 TL towers and sound identical from around 65 hz and above. When coupled with a good subwoofer the N3S sound awesome  The N3S have a very focused, detailed, and dynamic sound quality with excellent sound field imaging and depth. Hi Ron,  Great work!  I am trying to point my neighbor your direction.  Could you please comment on how placement sensitive the N3S's are?

 Thanks for the complement. They did turn out very nice.

  Since the N3S is a sealed type system, placement is not as big an issue as it is with vented type speakers. Generally they sound best located 24 to 28 inches above the floor, seperated about 6 to 8 feet apart, and at least 12 to 20 inches from the back wall. Depending on your seating location you may want to toe them in slightly.  In my particular listening room ( which is 12 ft wide x 15 ft long ) I have them set on 24" high stands, seperated 6 feet apart and 20 inches from the rear wall. In this location the sound is well balanced with excellent imaging and depth. As with any room, you would need to experiment with the placement until it sounds best to you.

 Anand - I live in Poquoson,Va which is adjacent to Hampton/ Newport News. I  really would like to build a pair of Super V's, but presently can't build anything new until I sell my N3S and N2X. Oh well, maybe one of these days.

Anyone looking at this thread should go over to GR Research and add up all the materials (with no rez) and get the shipping quote and don't forget to add about another hundred $ for the Platinum bypass caps.  Add to that the materials Ron has supplied.

Now you see what an excellent deal this is  .
