Grado Ph-1 Phono-Amp- Does anybody use?
« on: 14 Mar 2004, 02:41 am »
Hey all,

The reviews written in the audio press have been complimentary- But I'd be interested in comments from "real" users out there. Anybody :?:

Thanks in advance,

It's alright.  Transparent and can be quite live sounding with certain LPs. Tonally OK.  It'll expose bad recordings (a good thing and a bad thing if you catch my drift).  It's a $500.00 phono stage.  IMO, not up to the level of quality of the Reference Master ($800) I had it paired with, but a decent synergy.  All in all, not bad, just not hugely involving like some tube designs I've heard.

Jim A.,

Thank you for your response. I will probably be using the Sonata cart.- the low output one- $500 list- so maybe a synergy happening.

Anybody else ?
