To clarify the question...
MY BP1.5 the green light turns red when the mute switch is activated.
AND: I assume that is the position to leave it in when not in use?
So to the OP? Does YOUR Bryston BP1.5 light change from green to red when you activate the 'mute' switch?
OR does it stay green no matter which position the mute switch is in?
============================================
PS I think it is actually best to leave it on all the time.. If you leave the power supply on, and the Bryston BP-26 (I have the BP-26) on all the time...
IF you turn off the power supply then the BP-26 AND the BP1.5 are off.
Just to clarify...
And yes, I leave the preamp and 1.5 on 100% of the time. I use the mute on the BP-26 to turn off the 4B-SST2 with the 12V connection.
I also leave on the DAC, CD changer and Behringer DEQ2496 100% of the time.
Stereo just sounds better if it is left on for 8 hours, and even better still for 24 ... so I have noticed.
To amp just uses too much power to leave on 100% of the time. When I was working (AND electricity was only a third as expensive), I left my former Class "A" amp ($10 a month added to electrical bill just for amp) all the time.
Now it would cost just too much!

And for the OP last question. Leave it on. It is MUCH better to be on 100% of the time, than to be turned on and off. The caps and stuff really are better off being charged all the time.
