Crossover location in a N3

Where do you all put the crossovers in your N3 builds?  I was thinking something like this.  or Put the Woofer Xover flat on the the back of the cabinet.

Thoughts?  Pros/Cons?

Danny gave the following answers -

> Mains -  These questions came from the forum but I was looking for the answers as well  When it comes to the crossovers, where is the best location to install it?  Toward the bottom on top of brace G/E/etc, or closer to the woofers on top of brace Bs?

I mount the crossover on the back wall directly behind the lower woofer. Or if you separate them then you can put them on top of the braces.

>   Also do I separate out the woofer and tweeter networks and mount them separately on top of each Brace B (woofer network on lower brace B, tweeter network on upper brace B) or do I keep them together in one 4"x6" panel on top of one of the Brace B's?

Either is fine.

I normally install the high pass filters on top of the upper brace and the low pass filters under the lower brace. Installing the low pass filter on top of the lower brace works well too.

HT cOz , are you missing the 6.5x4 brace C?  It is missing from his online N3 box plans, but the plans he sent along with the kit includes a brace C 5" above brace D

Fantastic  :thumb:

That sounds like a resounding yes.  If it is not on the online plans, and those are the ones I sent to the flat pack builder then I am missing it.  :duh:  :duh:  :duh:  I hope that brace is not part of the TL???

Can someone send me the pdf of the kit?  Long story short, these speakers are actually pre N3 and are AV3 Neo.  They don't have the deep cup Neo tweeter and I have been somewhat on my own since I bought them used.

Interestingly enough the original builder created some slot ported monitors that are considerable larger than the N3S.  I should post some pics of those as they are pretty interesting.

Well this kina sucks!

No worries on the top brace that makes up the transmission line (brace C). I later omitted it. It was so high up the line that it had little effect on the transmission line itself. It did brace that section of the rear wall, but that section of the rear wall was also a good place to mount the crossover and the added mass of the crossover will also keep that panel from resonating.

Thats good to hear.  I did mount the crossover flat on that pannel... I think a rule for DIY should be when in doubt build it as Danny desined it. or simply Danny knows best..
