Digital Amplifiers, Multi-Room Audio
« on: 11 Mar 2004, 08:13 pm »
I had stumbled upon a company called Pragmatic a long while back via an eBay auction.  They had a very small form factor ClassD amplifier, one in a chassis that looked about the size of the little META headphone amplifiers, and one that was a tiny little in-wall unit, both in 24w/36w/48w configurations, and both stereo and mono block setups.

They also offer up to 32-zone multiroom setups that can do audio up to 5000 ft and video up to 1000 feet over standard CAT5.  They actually also offer repeaters if you wanted to extend it liteally to miles.  Same also goes for DSS.  They also offer wireless audio at 300-600ft.

Figured I'd mention the company as I thought they had an interesting product line.  My initial interest was in the little digital amplifiers.  Not sure what the pricing is now, but if I remember correctly, the little tiny digital amplifier was $125 when I saw the auction.  I was tempted to grab one of the little units to play with, whether stock, or connecting a better power supply, or trying batteries.

Their website is pretty weak, but if you browse through all the PDFs on the product catalog, you slowly see how they aim to have everything work together.

Just figured I'd throw it out there if someone else wants either a creative system or to play with yet another tiny class-D amplifier.  I vaguely remember seeing mention of a multichannel setup as well.
