GIK Q7D Diffuser
« on: 6 Dec 2010, 05:41 pm »
GIK introduces the Q7D diffuser.  The Q7D is a 7 root well diffuser finished in blonde maple.  We had something similar to this before but we felt the pricing was too high. We've invested in CNC machining so we can now bring them to you at a much more reasonable price.

Retail on these will be $349.  We're running a preorder special at $299.

I'm out of town right now but will be checking in periodically as internet allows if there are any questions.

We'll have another announcement next week hopefully.

Interesting.  I thought it needed to go vertical.  Then for the back wall what's the ideal height?  Can it be lower so it will clear artwork?

Diffusion can be hung either way depending on which way you want to scatter the sound.

On the rear wall, it depends on a variety of things but normally the ribs would go vertically to widen the 'surround' field.

Gotcha!  I thought the ribs would always go vertically.   :duh:

That's the way they're usually hung since in most applications you're trying to scatter side to side and not throw a bunch of sound down into carpeted floors.  However, if you have a situation where you're trying to increase image height, the horizontal orientation may work better.

I have mine hanging vertically on the walls but horizontally on the ceiling at the point of 1st reflection between the main loudspeakers. This makes my little 11' x 17' x 7' room sound much larger while increasing the sound stage depth.

Having gone to your website and not seeing it listed, do you know the weight of these 19" x  46" x 6" thick diffusers? Might be nice bit of info to know for those who want to attempt a ceiling mount which was an easy task for me with my hanging ceiling because of the lightness of my particular diffuser. Thanks Bryan.  :D

Cheers,
Robin
