Question about SB Touch display...
« on: 3 Dec 2010, 08:49 pm »
so, just got the Touch from a local member...playing music via external HD that is connected to a macbook.  Not using the iTunes from the Touch preference...I can not get the Touch to display the album cover on the TOUCH's display, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Are you using iTunes to rip the CD?  I have not had any luck with SqueezeCenter reading the Album Art from iTunes.  I use on of the plugins to pull album art from Amazon.  The plugin in question is listed under the plugin on the squeezecenter web interface.

The Squeezebox can read the artwork in a variety of ways. It can read the album art if the album art is embedded in the meta data of the actual file, or if you have your albums in folders on your computer, you can place a "folder.jpg" of the album art in each folder and it will load that file for display on the Squeezebox.

There has to be a better way then dragging a jpeg to the album, that would take forever!

Haha, I agree. However, I've been putting the album art as "folder.jpg" for years as this is the general standard for media players and servers grabbing the art. There are a number of "utilities" that try to best find the album cover and put it in the proper folder. There are also programs that can embed the art directly in the files.

You can try the following:

Album Art Downloader: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=57392
Or Album Cover Art Downloader: http://www.unrealvoodoo.org/hiteck/projects/albumart/

The plugin in question is called Find Cover Art
Another tool to use http://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/.  Have not tried it but plan to use it.
Edit: highfilter beat me to album art cover.

There is a free download, Mp3tag that is invaluable in editing metadata tags and can also add tags for cover art.  Available @ http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I simply go to amazon.com, find the record, copy the image of the cover and save it as folder.jpg to the proper folder.

The newer versions of mp3tag will also look in amazon and other sources for tag info and covers, based on album name.
