Thanks Jack,

I was just reading it while your post showed up.
Nice story, I recognize every word of it since I have them for almost a year now.

Just as Philip writes, you have to hear them once when you are looking for a monitor at high level.

I bought the original VR-1 after reading a glowing review in Soundstage, and they were amazing. I am sure the Uni 1 is a far superior monitor. Congrats Albert!

The VR1's were pretty special...  I still see them from time to time at clients homes where I sold them literally as "bookshelf" speakers and also used as front channel speakers for those "new" plasma and lcd tv's that were the rave back when.  I've had my Uni 2's for some time now and I'm still amazed at the quality and quantity of sonics these stand mounted speakers throw..  The cabinet is dead and neutral,, the drivers and crossover, first rate.  When paired with heavy and stable stands they are in class all by themselves considering their size and price point.  So,,, what next from our guru???  What ever happened to those 77's?  Jack

varsharun: yes, the uf1´s are superior to the vr1.. wich are still good.

jab: have you tried different stands? I use low ones that are about 45cm in height and stable but not that heavy and I found them to be a bit too low, like I´m watching the perfomer from a bit above sometimes ( I think thoose stands was shipped with the speakers).... I have also tried with 70cm stands but they arent stable enough for the speakers and maybe a bit too high. The depth and 3d are better cus they are at ear level, but the bass is weaker and mids not as well defined as with the smaller ones. I guess about 60-65cm heavy stands will do it.

Hello all,

We use the marble stands.
They are custom made at any height.

You can fill the aluminium part with leadshot at best, mine are over 50 kg at weight.

The more masive the more stable and tight bass, lot of more music.

Good luck,

Cor

Go directly to Ceedee. They are modified SolidTech stands done with Belgian Marble, I believe. Quite a few AC members have them under their Unis. I got a pair from Cor for Unifield 3s. They are very stable, inert and look good too.

Hello Fellow Audiophiles,
The UniField Model One review at SoundStage.com is quite interesting - Phillip Beaudette, the reviewer, believes the Uni One's are the best imaging speakers he has ever heard, and also loves their absolute transparency.  His only reservation was that the speakers could have had more bass power, as he had on hand a competing speaker with a bit more bass.

However, I find it interesting that Phillip did not attempt to alter the stuffing density, as per our Owners Manual, which explains how to increase or reduce the bass power by playing with the Dacron stuffing.

Alan Sircom, the Editor of HiFi+ in London, England, has just published a UniField Model One review in Issue 75, wherein he states that the UniField Model One "has the loudest, deepest, and best bass response of any monitor he has ever heard."  Mr. Sircom of HiFi+ had read the Owners Manual and adjusted the Dacron stuffing to his taste, and after listening to the Uni One's for several months, gave them a Recommended Component and Editors Choice Award.  He also mentions the fantastic image focus and ultimate transparency, so both of these perceptive reviewers agree that we have done quite a nice job with the overall design.

We at VSA are quite proud of both reviews, as they are surprising similar in their conclusion - the UniField Model One's are "reference" quality and are at the top of the mini monitor quality range.  $3,995/pr might be considered to be a formidable price for a small speaker, but when you look at the $7,500 to $30,000/pr monitors, our price is a bargain considering that we are offering similar or better sound quality.

For those listeners who have large rooms and want a slightly larger version with much more bass power, our UniField Model Two has an additional 7" aluminum subwoofer, enabling extremely powerful bass similar to floor standing speakers.  The Uni Two's are priced at $7,995/pr in the USA, but  can be directly compared to the $37,000 TAD monitors which are similar in size and driver complement.  As always, VSA is concerned with offering its customers fantastic value for the money, and the UniField Model One reviews are indicative that we are meeting our goal to become "the" value oriented company for audiophiles who want the ultimate in sound quality.

Happy Listening,
Albert Von Schweikert
