I first saw The Pat Metheny Group in the late 70's at the Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia, we stayed for both shows after seeing the first and hung out pretending to be A&R guys so the Bijou would let us see the second show without paying-we were broke college guys. Immediately after the first few notes I realized I was seeing the start of an amazing new sound to me, they didn't even have names for some of the songs yet and called out a number to each other as a way to pick the next song. I have followed the band and the man ever since and have been fortunate to meet them all several times at various shows along the way. I just got this Blu-Ray today-"The Way Up" and before it was 5 minutes in I started getting chills, the hair on my neck stood up...this is the best concert Blu-Ray I have seen to date. The sound is perfect, the performances are awe inspiring and if your a fan I would say this is a must have to add to your collection. I hope these guys play on and on for a long, long time as I enjoy everything they have done. I give it a 5 dancing sunglass guy rating

Thanks for the tip Ed. I saw him here in Seattle, '84 I think it was, had been listening to him since their initial release. Great show, and one fine guitarist.
