FS: Sounds by Design Sedition loudspeakers
« on: 19 Nov 2010, 02:59 pm »
Sounds By Design is please to announce that Sedition is ready.

This is a true merger of form and function in every aspect. Driver choice and implementation was to utilize them at what they do best and to eliminate any shortcomings that a tradition loudspeaker faces.

Sedition uses a Lowther PM6A in a very unconventional baffle-less application. This provides the most transparent platform I have ever experienced with a wideband driver. The EnABLE processes is also applied to the Lowther to further eliminate any issues a traditional driver has during playback. The Lowthers are accompanied by a pair of Dynaudio 8inch drivers in a sealed configuration. Great pain was taken to minimize enclosure resonance and coloration utilizing AIR (Asymmetric Internal Randomization). This application minimizes the negative effects that an enclosure imposes on a driver and provides unparalleled playback.

The design was also built to be run in an active configuration. That way, you have a choice to power both the Lowther and the Dynaudios optimally and also have the loudspeaker tuned to your specific listening environment. So if you want to run tubes or a low power class A on the Lowthers and a more powerful class A/B or D on the Dynaudios that is your choice. This eliminates any compromises and allows you to hand tailor the sound to your liking.

Cardas’s flagship binding posts and wiring chosen specifically to compliment the driver’s performance were implemented. Paint color is an endless palette and will work with you to come up with something that is unique and special to you. All inlays are also an open pallet and can be something that ties in the mediums in the room or compliments the paint color or both.

3 options are available with the Sedition loudspeakers.

1. A minidsp unit packaged $7200 USD
2. A active analogue Nelson Pass/FirstWatt B4 unit packaged, cost is $8300 USD
3. A 500x2 class D amp along with a MiniDSP unit packaged, cost is $8700 USD

In home tuning is offered with any loudspeaker purchase (Fees apply)

Deposit is 50% down and in full at time of completion. 30 days or less from the time of deposit.

Please feel free to contact me in regards to questions.

Hey all, I am offering a review special for 2 people on the Sedition loudspeaker..

Please read the review here

http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue52/soundsbydesign.htm

The first 2 will receive them for $5500... your choice of colors and inlay materials.. This also includes the MiniDSP..

All you need to do is supply 4 channels of amplification of your choice   :green:

Shipping will be 500-600ish as I will be delivering these personally and help with setup and fine tuning..

A deposit of $3000 each will need to be made to start the build for these 2 pairs and final payment before delivery..

After that, pricing goes back up to what is stated above and only 30 pairs will ever be made..

What is a "MiniDSP"?

Can you post a picture showing control and connections?

What are the dimensions of the Sedition?

when I mean packaged.. I just mean that I am supplying it with the loudspeaker.. but it will be this little guy  :green:

Also they just came out with a balanced version to:

http://www.minidsp.com/minibox/minidsp-balanced-2x4

Now, if somebody wants a case that matches aesthetics of the loudspeaker with all Cardas wiring and connections along with upgraded power supply, I would be happy to make it but that will add costs of material + labor/time as that's how I determine cost of my pieces..

I will be doing a very limited special edition of these with dual 8 Accuton drivers.. This pairing and configuration will be like no other and will compete with ANY loudspeaker under $60,000..

Pricing is $10,000 a pair which still gives you choice of colors and inlay materials..

Also with all of the Sedition loudspeakers, I personally setup and tune these in your room and is apart of the delivery price..

:o  That's a pretty huge claim there.  I have no doubt that they will compete in the aesthetics dept but what about the sound?     Since you haven't built them yet I look forward to the results.   :thumb:

I stand by my word..

there isn't and never will be a worlds best.. there always however will be what you prefer and what is best for you.. I have sat in front of more then a few $80,000 + sets and easily prefer my current rig.. I have also sat infront of hyped up speakers and walked away scratching my head wondering why.. this is the fickle part of audio

so I only use the pricepoint as a benchmark and nothing more...
