I believe it is the predecessor to the Duet.

I found one on Craigslist for $40, so I am picking it up tomorrow.

I am thinking I can connect it to my dedicated music PC in the basement (which I run wired to my Bolder SB3 on the main rig) and leverage the 800G of tunes down there in my main floor HT setup.

Yes, I am sure that a Duet or a 2nd SB3 would be better, but for the dough, I figure this should be a fun addition to my home music distribution etc.

I picked up the unit today, typical Logitech build quality and looks.

Through research, it would appear that this device does not natively work with Squeezecenter and the like, and it does not support FLAC.  There is a mode that basically has it make all sounds coming out of your PC, regardless of source, so I should be able to fool it into playing Squeezecenter that way.

My other choice would be to research a codec that can be pulled into Windows Media Center that can play FLAC - if so, then the full functionality of the device can be realized.

Either way, money well spent I figure, to 2x the use of my music storage.

No, it's completely unrelated to the Squeezebox.

From what I've read it uses Bluetooth SBC to stream audio, which is a 128 kbps compressed codec.  Although the remote can apparently be used to control Windows Media Center, it won't matter that you're playing lossless FLAC files because they'll still be encoded and decoded using the SBC codec to stream the data wirelelessly.

Ah, good insight. 

That will at least help me strategize around how to use it.  Clearly it will be for background listening on the main floor, so the lower bitrate and associated loss of fidelity will not be an issue for my application.
