Anyone heard the Minimax Integrated Amplifier?

8W x 2.

I'm wanting to try tubes for the first time, and can pick this up for about $700. Associated equipment will be an Omega Super 6 (XRS probably) and a Wyred4sound Dac1.

It's based on their 8w x 2 power amp but with a solid state rectifier and remote control.

I have not heard the minimax. I have tried the ASL Wave 8 amps, which are a similar design but in monoblock form and without a preamp. The 6BM8 provides quite extended tops and warm low end but without much low end extension. They are not as sweet sounding as the EL84 tube. The best entry level EL84 amp I have heard is the Jolida 102 and it has a bit more drive.

You could also look at Vista Audio - they make a decent EL84 amp.

Some great recommendations there. Thankyou  :thumb: All those amps have very compelling reviews and are around the same price as the minimax.

It was interesting to note that Vista Audio is Serbian and has ties with Trafomatic. They appear to produce  a disproportionate number of audiophile gems from that once-troubled country
