The Room
« on: 15 Nov 2010, 02:48 am »
Started getting the room treated tonight... almost finished with cutting all the 1 inch 703 for the corner bass traps... I need to pick up 2 sheets of 1/2 mdf to finish them..

But I will say that just adding this has made an enormous change for the better..

Frequency response is more even, micro detail has gone up a ton and the top end is more extended...

That 703 is some wonderful stuff indeed. One of these days I'll get around to trapping my room too.  :duh:
You've come a long way in a short time, well done Randy.

Still have to trim out the bass traps.. but I got around to making the wall absorbers a week or so ago.. the colors will make more since once I get the rug in along with other aesthetics.. 2 are covered in white and gray grill cloth while 2 are covered in yellow and black suede...

Something you might try, sir, is bringing your rug nearer your speakers and your seat nearer an equilateral triangle with your speakers.

Looks cool!  Are you going to be around this afternoon?  My school was canceled.  Are the roads to your home OK?  I would bring out my lowther drivers and we could talk about my idea for surfboard look open baffles after we listen to your current creation.  Alex

Thanks Jim, I've played with it all and ended up with the rug exactly were the first reflection was calculated along with the wall treatments.. the only gain that I will make is getting the 10 x 10 rug and diffusion.. but I have spent a few weeks trying positions and locations..

the same with the chair.. it's exactly were it needs to be..

Got the new 10 x 10 covering in called FLOR from CB2... the change was pretty drastic.. way better micro detail and all secondary reflections and time smearing from the floor bounce is gone.. going to trim out the corner traps this week as I got all the wood to do it and then it's time for some diffusion  :green:

Hey, that does look pretty darn cool.  Got any time for some tubes this week? I'd like to hear the little 2A3 amp on your speakers.  I'm busy on Tuesday and Thursday, but rest of the week looks pretty good.

I have a tweak at my house that will make you    Weird doesn't even begin to describe it.
How's that for a tease?
