SOLD - Dayens Ampino
« on: 12 Nov 2010, 01:51 pm »
If you didn't already know, I love this amp... and even though my Druids are very sensitive (101 db) I'm lusting after more power as my listening habits have changed from moderate volumes to exceedingly loud concert volumes!

This is the upgraded version of the Ampino and it is $700 new but here's you chance to pick one up fully broken in and in mint condition for $500.

Wind Chaser: that was a quick dalliance?  :D

Are you moving up to the Dayens Ecstasy II (or is it III now)?

Okay, rather than replying to all the PMs I simply state than there is a line up behind ChrisM.  If I don't hear back from him within the next 24 hour hours, I will contact the next person in line.

In my lust for more power I have two... possibly three options.  I haven't heard any of them yet and it's quite possible this might be step back, but I'm in love with the Druids and even though the Ampino can drive them to insanely loud levels, every now and then it gets driven into clipping.

Possible replacements are...

The 70 watt Dayens Ecstasy II - the Ecstasy III won't be available until 2011
The new Art Forma 150 watt integrate
The McAlister PP150

Okay, after a very enjoyable night of music I had a moment of clarity and have decided not sell the Ampino until a new amp takes up permanent residence.  The reason being I don't want to take a step back in sound quality for the sake of having more power.  A lateral move is fine, but I don't want to put a lot more money into something only to regret it.  So if I can't find something suitable in the same league as the Ampino, then I want to have the Ampino to fall back on.

I'll keep all the PMs and update this thread as things unfold.

I have a PP150 and think it's a good buy depending on what price you get it for (early models were very cheap).

I've heard good things about the amp you're selling.  The PP150 is very very powerful, but may not be as detailed. Just guessing.

Them folks at Zu seem to think tubes mate best with their products.  The previous owner of my Druids fed them with a 300b.  In the end only the ears can tell.  The Dayens Ecstasy should be the most obvious answer but the distributor only had one unit left and it was shipped back to Serbia for technical issues.

Well if the speaker gets 'shouty' then perhaps tubes help tame that somewhat.

I sent you a PM with a suggestion as to not clutter your FS thread.

Zu shouty?

Seriously, the Druids are not the least bit shouty. 8)

All Ampino's are upgraded versions only. Prices will be $799 in January. Cryo Parts has a few $699 units for sale.  US/Canadian distributor has one new Ecstasy IIb available as of 11/14/2010.  The new Ecstasy II has been improved and is now the IIb model .
