wonderful recording

This record came with a Nautilus catalog from 1981, it showed that Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" was the only digitally remastered record that Nautilus ever produced, most of the Nautilus titles were half speed remastered. Obviously, it was somewhat a special project for the company, since on the back of the album cover, credit was given to five names :

Trisha John Krane---Production coordinator Warner Bros. Special Products
Paul Wexler---------Quality assurance Warner Bros. Records
Ken Caillat----------Executive Producer
Ken Perry-----------Mastering Engineer
Rich Feldman--------digital Engineer

The sound is excellent, tighter bass, huge soundstage, more details especially in the acoustic cuts, more clear vocal, more individual instrument. Day and night differences comparing to the mass produced record store version.

I always thought that the last cuts on both sides "golddust woman" and "songbird" were poorly recorded, but not on the Nautilus copy, they sound every bit as good as the rest of the cuts. No remasteded CD can beat the sound of this one (I have this CD too), it made my vinyl day.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to loan that out for a few days? I could send you something of mine to play, maybe a MFSL Original Master of Stevie Nicks "Belladonna", and I'll pay all the postage.  :)

Vinyl records are too fragile to loan out and end up getting damaged. Not necessarily by the user, but could happen during shipping. I hope you understand.

I don't blame you- I value my LPs just like you do, but thought it was worth a shot!  :)

I would love to read it if I could find a copy, any suggestion where I can find one?

I'll think about the driving part, but probably would have to wait until I retire when I'll be able to do this vinyl hobby full time.

Thank you Toni for sending me HP's review of the Nautilus Rumours in the Absolute Sound. While HP didn't care too much about the Nautilus, and perferred the original (his original had been played to death, he said), I can only express my personal opinion that I love the Nautilus version. I don't hear all the defects that HP heard. I hear that John Mcvie's bass guitar stands out more in every cut. I agree that there's no more deeper bass than the original (can anyone tell me why any sound improvement must have more lower deeper bass?????), I didn't hear that Stevie Nicks' voice got more nasal in "Golddust woman", and I don't know about if Stevie Nicks isolation booth disappeared or not. All I can say is the Nautilus Rumours is a cleaner, more details, more musical, less muddy bass, and less splashy high copy after I compared it with the original copy. I do have five more copies of the Rumours original, one is still sealed, I wonder if HP would be interested in buying it since his has been played to death because of his crush on Stevie Nicks. Maybe HP's obsession for Stevie led him to believe that her voice should not be altered from the original in anyway.
