Sand-baggery

I agree entirely. Too much bench-racing here lately, and not enough photography! Personally, I detest the Picture of the Day thread - I never know whether it's worth looking at, or not. Some of us have to pay for bandwidth, you know. So mostly, I don't bother. I propose that each new image be created with its own thread. Set a bar, etc, hip hip...

Here is mine for today. The question... is it sandbags, or merely impressions of sandbags?

That easy, huh  It's weird, I can't look at it and see what I know was there when I took the photo...  :dunno:

There’s a few things that gave it away.  It's looks too two dimensional to my eye and the tears in the bottom bags don't look right.

Those tears are actually rock. I'll have to go back there soon and try some different shots. This is the first time I've not been able to recognize my own shot. Very weird.

hmm? tricky. The visual psychological clue is usually light coming from the top. here it is not. but you could have rotated your framing.
my guess would be: not actual sandbags but a casting of impressions left by the sandbags. it still seems the ends are convex. an impression  would normally mean they are concave....it doesn't appear concave to me. but it's 7:30am ;)

For some reason it reminds me of Bill Atkinson's polished stone images.  It does look like weathered bags at first, but then there's distinct rock-like textures on the bottom.
