Enclosure for Quad Emminence OB subwoofer
« on: 1 Nov 2010, 12:38 am »
I have two sets of V2 OB subwoofer and I have decided that I really have one spot that is optimum for the OB subwoofer, so I am going to build a quad subwoofer. Performance wise what would be the best design for the enclosure?

edit: I have decided to go with a stacked W-frame, two double woofer frames with an additional plywood panel on the sides.

I'm wondering what firing directions would sound best for 4 matched speakers on one enclosure?
For example ...two front firing and two rear firing speakers on an 'H' enclosure ...or perhaps two
front firing and two side/oblique fring on a 'W' style enclosure? I have also seen 4 - 5 sided boxes
with an open back firng the speakers to the left, front, right and top.

That could be an argument for making two separate boxes and just stacking one on the other so that you could vary the direction to get the most even bass response across a wider area.
