I listen to a jazz CD every time I fire up my rig, at least one (or more) each time, though haven't posted here in a while. I got into sort of a rut, listening to the same core group of jazz CDs (old stuff) over and over again. To forcefully unrut myself I decided to run through only the last 25 years of recorded jazz I have on CD. I did that, and it was great! So now listening to only jazz CDs recorded 1982 - 1997. Anyway, I'm happy I am doing this. I am getting reacquainted with so much diverse jazz music in my collection this way. I'll keep going backwards in chunks of time until I exhaust my collection entirely. This has been a fun and productive exercise.Today I listened to these two gems from Warne Marsh, "Star Highs", and, "Final Interplay"The last track on Final Interplay is, "Out of Nowhere". Just over two months after recording this release, Marne was performing this song on stage, where he collapsed and died. Eerie.
