Once again, I would like to thank Maestro Rosengrant for sending me an unblemished copy of The Manfred Schoof Quintet's
SCALES
(ECM). Spinning now and a personal favorite from the 70's European jazz scene.

I like the early Jazz Crusaders before they found their 'sound' and
way
before they dropped the word Jazz from their name. I've been steady listening to this CD lately cause it is SO DAMN GOOD! And, man, it is an early one. The Jazz Crusaders Live at The Lighthouse (Pacific Jazz). I'm serious. This mother is excellent. Don't know where it's been hiding but I'm glad it's seeing the light of day now. Highest recommendation from me.

really enjoying this cd (which just came in the mail today), for the quality of the recording, the playing (by all of her bandmates), and her singing. the video is a tune featured on the album
looking back
which has just been released.
they really did get an excellent mix for the cd. "top drawer", as they say as far as how her vocals and all the instruments backing her up are so well integrated. excellent recording. i just checked the liner notes on the cd and it says: "mixed and mastered by jeff gruber and lena seikaly."
recorded at blue house studios, kensington, md. (they did a great job with this).
