File format

I have persisted with WAV file format for years. However, I'm beginning to get a little frustrated with the lack of convenience with tags & meta data. What format are most folks using for playback on itunes that has a little more flexibility in terms of metadata but is still lossless ?

Compatibility with foobar & Jriver on PC would be even better.

AIFF. Lossless, uncompressed, and supports tagging.

I second Planet 10's approach. Rip with iTunes and if I download a FLAC file then I convert to AIFF with Max. Max is very easy and fast.  I use PureMusic to play the music and iTunes as the database.
