The Quads are best when listened to in the near-field anyway so the small room will not affect you as long as you have enough room behind and beside for placement. I'm a planer-stat speaker lover over boxes anyday type of guy, so I voted for the Quad's. If you listen to mostly rock and very little else...you may not be as happy with the switch.

I own and love two pair each: Vmps and Apogees. My largest pair of Apogee's, (Duetta Signatures) are full-range...My VMPS Supertowers blow them out of the water on loud rock.

I thought I should mention this to you. That said...the Apogee's are a much better speaker over-all, the Quads would fit the same profile with even less bass impact than the Apogees.

By impact I mean, hit you in the chest type of bass. My Duetta Sig's have great bass response down to 25hz in my room, the VMPS go lower at around 20hz. The bass impact at rock music levels is more to my taste and closer to what I would expect to live on the VMPS's. Something to think about!

I used to own DQ-10's back in the 70's...great speakers but very power hungry!!!, enjoy them. I'll bet they still hold their own with most.
