They look nice...considering how much some of the top headphones currently go for, it doesn't seem as insane as one might think.  We pay wayyyy more for expensive watches that do nothing but tell time and are generally one of many we have stored away.

I have a pair of $1,300 JH13-Pro IEMs (which have basically no resale value) and there's not much to them, for twice the price, more high quality material, and hopefully at least a slight improvement in sound, I can definitely see the appeal of this product...not that I can afford it myself currently.

Look at how much we pay for amplifiers much of the time...is this really that obscene in this hobby?

Hi
I was looking for a manufacturer of good headphones to import and distribute in Vietnam. A make that was not already imported in Vietnam, so I would not have to start a price war to sell them.
My soon to be open small audio business (Audio 13) does not want to get into the very expensive stuff. Quality audio at affordable price, thats Audio 13.
Ultrasone from Germany did not have any distributor in Vietnam, therefore it was the ideal candidate for Audio 13, however, I ahve not seen much reviews on their products and the one that I saw where not too good, except for their hi end headphone at sky high prices. I have decided not to import the Ultrasone and instead I have contacted Beyerdynamic, their DT-990PRO (Open type, over the ear.) and DT-770PRO (Closed type over the ear.) are well quoted and really affordable, and their minimum per order quantities is very reasonable, therefore I will go with them.
Blair from Niteshade Audio have or will have a headphone amplifier available now or later that will be compatible with high impedance (250 Ohms) headphones.
Comments are welcome.

Hi Guy 13. Have you looked into Earsonics. They are a French company which makes excellent quality IEMs, some of which aren't obscenely expensive.

Obscene price!!!!????

So, what do you think they should sell for, assuming of course that you have actually used them...

Headphones are such personal tastes ... Ultrasones did not do it for me - all the way upto the top ... I have their low end ones - they are much better value for the money ... of course I got it on a sale I could not resist  :duh:

I'd recommend picking phones / lines that are easy to drive (i.e. they can be plugged into an ipod and wpould make music) yet shine with an amp. Grado Prestige line is very easy to drive and overseas people love - though they have had quality control issue. Beyers would make a nice choice - they are good looking and light . Senns are also very popular and middle of the road but only they very high end really did it for me ... AKGs are excellent for studio or those who like neutral sound ... they are known to be bass light in general. Audio Technica - I like their classic M50 closed - their other offerings are ho hum for me - though a lot of people love it ... Denon make nice closed ones with emphasis on bass.

Then there are a lof of chinese offerings that are really value based - head-direct has some really good phones.

So - what is really needed is a variety of phones ...  :green:

GUY13 I have a lot of headphones. This includes Ultrasone Pro 2500's and 780's. I also have much more expensive headphones such as the Audeze LCD2's. Ultrasones are love them or hate them there is not usually too much middle ground. I love the way they present music. The S-Logic surround sound is great to me but others hate it. I woul love a pair of these SUPER expensive Edition 10's. If I had the money I would have a pair. I would not say that all Ultrasones are over priced that is a huge blanket stement. I think my 2500's are absolutely great cans. Very unforgiving and telling of source. They are almost as good as my LCD2's for mixing and in some regards even better. For every bad review out there I can point to a great review. Smae with every can I own. There are plenty of bad Beyer reviews, and also plenty of great ones. O can't see not carrying a product because you read some bad reviews. I would love to know where these reviews came from and if you read other reviews that counter what they say.
