Garge sale/Barter get together
« on: 11 Oct 2010, 01:58 am »
It has been mentioned before, and Lord knows I could run one with just the gear I have, so here goes...

Would there be any interest in a gathering at our abode in South County(255 and Telegraph) on either October 23, 24, or November 7?

We can set up the grilles, and get in some good BBQing on the patio, with some tunes going through the house Altecs or JBLs outside, and we can swap stories and stereos. This one would be a little more focused on selling, trading, and buying gear and enjoying the nice autumn weather al fresco.

Between the couple KFUO friends, and another couple friends making tuition payments on their kids, we can have some substantial and collectible gear on the planks.  8)

This works for me! I think the spousal unit is going with number 1 daughter to visit number 2 daughter at school.  :thumb:

Right now, the calendar that must be obeyed says we have nothing on any of those dates.  Sounds like a blast.  I have a few extra pieces laying around that need a good home.

Hi Everybody! I am writing you from Europe, where I am traveling until Nov 5. I will be laden with jet lag and just getting back from my trip, otherwise I'd really like to join y'all. Yes, I also wanna see all Blackmore's gear list, as he recently beat me out on a set of speakers!

Still looking forward to the Get Together in Southern IL on November 21! I will be sending out directions and details to all the RSVPs very soon. In addition, I also have some stuff I would sell or trade, so if folks want to bring some gear our way... please feel free. Looking forward to meeting everyone in November, good luck on your gear swap and see you soon. Ciao!

Can't make this one.  I have rehearsal from 1:30-4:00 for Wind Symphony. And Lord knows I need some more gear in the house.   Speaking of gear, someone needs to coerce Dave into getting the Empire or the Rek-O-Kut table up and running.  With that downstairs full of beautiful vintage gear, a cd player just seems out of place.

Thanks for the invitation and I'll catch you next time.

I'll be there with a trunkload of odds 'n ends.  Anyone who has an  extra TT stand (nice and rigid), maybe 3' to 3 1/2' tall, top shelf around 16x20 or larger, bring it and maybe we can work something out.   :thumb:

I have ordered the belt for the Empire, Mark, and I picked up a Kenwood 3055 (with the faux marble base) so we can spin albums. The big problem is I got rid of over 3,000 albums a few years back after moving them laid me up for a week. CDs are just so much lighter.

I need to free up some space and generate money for restorations, so it looks like the Stromberg Carlson console, the EV 12TRXs and 15TRXs, the Altec Model 15s, Frazier Mark VIIs, Snell EIIs, and a few other space hogs will be up for adoption.

My wife is looking forward to this more than I, for some reason!

I have been sorting, cleaning, and a few new things have shown up as well. I just hope we will have a nice crisp and clear morning with warming temperatures! 8)

So, what time do we meet?  Do we PM you for directions? Besides swap material, do we need to bring anything?

Is anyone interested in 4 Altec Lansing Stonehenge I's?  Maybe some JBL D123' in cabinet grade cabinets and tweeters of some unknown brand?  Or maybe some audio stands that I had bought from Walmart?  They have glass shelves....  The reason I am asking is these are large items and I wouldn't want to drag these along just to see if anyone wants to buy them.  If anyone is interested I can bring them.
