FS: Niteshade EL84 amplifier
« on: 8 Oct 2010, 11:37 am »
Due to my never-ending quest for new stereo equipment, I am putting my Niteshade EL84 amplifier up for sale. I purchased this amp about 6-8 months ago and have been extremely happy with it. It boasts 15 WPC with (4) EL84 output tubes. It has the variable feedback feature to fine tune the amp to your speakers. It has a very smooth presentation and is dead silent.
I'm looking to move up to Blair's new NS-40 amplifier, thus the need to sell this one. I can provide more photos upon request. The amp is a beautiful "Ferrari" red and in mint condition.

Asking $510.00 plus shipping.

Please PM with any questions.

Thanks for looking

Joe

This is a great amp for efficient, single driver full range speakers as well as any kind of horn. It works wonders with anything 95db and up. The tone quality is everything you'd ever want from an EL84 amplifier.

Blair,

Care to share any details on the circuit topology for this unit? Cap coupled? Direct coupled? 2 stages? Push Pull Class AB? Paralleled triodes? Solid state or tube rectification? Any chokes?

Anand.

This is a close cousin to a single ended amp. In fact, the driver stage is exactly the same!

I call this a auto-splitting topology since there is no phase splitter circuit. This operates Class A push-pull and is the most streamlined push-pull circuit made. It is capacitor coupled and the power supply does not have a choke. All transformers came from a General Electric EL-84 amplifier and are very high quality. A variable feedback circuit is included.

Almost forgot- the best upgrade is our DC filament package. It kills 99% of all AC-induced noise and makes the amp nearly silent.

Were you able to sell this amp and purchase the NS-40?
