Hi James, when are you expecting your Magenpan 1.7's?  I'll be really interested in your thoughts on them.

James, what do you have the 1.7's hooked up to? How many hours on them? It took about 300 hrs before bass filled in on mine.  Take care, John

Hi John,

I have had them in my 3 different rooms and so far they sound the best in my largest room.  I have been using them with Subs so I have not played around with them 'naked'.

I have maybe 100 hours on them and so far I think they are an exceptional value.

Waiting for your review, wonder how the new 1.7 compare to the 1.6 and 3.6 you used to have in your rooms.

Hi jrc

Did you try them without stands initially and what changes did you hear?

James, I had my 1.7's for a little over a month before getting the Mye stands.
The Mye stands offer greater stability over the factory feet. The struts hold the frame securely approx 2/3 up and the base has brass points. The brass points are adjustable to provide leveling or tilt back (instead of plastic factory spacers). The bass is tighter with more definition and punch while the mids and highs have better clarity. I recently added reptisand to the struts and got even more improvement. The reptisand (available in pet stores) reduces vibration in the struts and has helped dampen resonances that caused a smearing of detail. This in turn gives a sense of blacker backgrounds, better seperation of sounds, greater clarity with more nuance and resolution.
FYI, the stands are well built by a super nice guy named Grant VanderMye of Kelowna BC. His website is www.myesound.com.

I know Bryston electronics will be used with the 1.7s but the discussion so far makes me think the new Planar Circle would be a better location for this thread.
