I am asking $95 for my DH Golden Sound Pad, a graphite-based pad/shelf (think giant DH Square) to place under vibration-prone equipment that allows one the option of eschewing the use of footers, altogether. Or, one may choose to use it either with Golden Sound's complementary and highly-popular, ceramic DH Cones, or your own footer of choice. A rather unique and rarely-seen product, it sells for $170, new.
I have found it to have three main uses:
1) It is great to use under audio equipment with irregular undersides, which preclude the proper use of footers.
2) The Pad will noticeably sharpen any video image, if the source of the video (e.g., a Blu-Ray player) is placed on the Pad.
(I used it under my laptop (which I use as a digital media source.
However, I have "upgraded" to a Svelte Super Shelf, now.)
3) One can, always, acquire some DH Cones to use with it for a good combination to put under just about anything.
Using the Golden Sound Pad, by itself, will sweeten the sound, somewhat, adding a touch of warmth.
The Golden Sound Pad, also, removes "grunge" from the notes, and makes the sonic images more focused, whilst rendering "blacker blacks".
This all conspires to render an increase in overall musicality.
Used with DH Cones, however, The Pad is extremely neutral, while, still, retaining all of its sonorous qualities.
Golden Sound products have been reviewed favorably and recommended by, Positive Feedback, SoundStage!, the Stereo Times, and Stereophile, among others.
The Golden Sound Pad, specifically, has been both a, Stereophile, "Recommended Component" and a fave of, the Stereo Times.
