Threshold is back. Neslon Pass has moved on to Pass Labs, but left his legacy with Threshold. The new Threshold has lived-up to its enviable reputation in a big way with new products that threaten the big boys. According to Soundstage the $2500 S/5000e is the best amplifiers under $10,000 and only the McCormack DNA-500 and Parasound Halo JC-1s are better. Threshold also offers the S/7000e Mono Block amplifiers that puts out 600watts/8ohm and 1000/4ohm for $2800! www.soundstage.com/revequip/threshold_s5000e.htm

Pretty cool looking amp.  Wonder how long those prices will last?

But the McCormack and the Parasound are both under $10K, well under even, so I don't see how that statement holds true.  Rowland 201s are $4700 and after hearing what they did last Saturday I wouldn't be so quick with the pen (or keys).

My Dad used to own a Nelson Pass Threshold Pure Class A amp in the mid 70's.  It was amazing (and stupid powerful if I recall right)and it's nice to see one of the companies that helped to shape our hobby come back.  It's certainly probably worth a listen, if you want to take Threshold's over 20 year track record into account.
