SA-XR 45 vs AVD-C700es

Any Suggestions?

Can anyone comment on which unit I should purchase without factoring in cost? Also, is the modified sa-xr45 superior?

Ok, Think I'll wait for the SA-XR70 with the DVD-S97, HDMI connectivity!

I personally won't jump on the XR45 bandwagon, seems pointless with the HDMI connectivity so close in our future.

I auditioned the Sony AVD - C1000ES for two weeks and returned it. I now have the modded Panasonic XR45. There is no comparison between the two. While the Sony was usable, the Panasonic modded by Bolder Cable puts out music on a way higher level. Much more detail, bigger soundstage, better mids and highs, even the bass which was the area which the Sony handled best (by far) is bested by the Panasonic.

Zoe, I can't find info on Sony AVD-C1000ES. Did you mean Sony AVD-C700ES?

Comparing the modded Panny to the unmodded Sony is a bit unfair. Still, it is very useful information. Thanks for reporting it.

Makes me wonder how a modded Sony would then compare to the modded Panny?
