Colhogan -

I wasn't bashing the AT cart at all.  Sorry if you got that impression.  Its far better than it has any right to be at it's price point.  I love inexpensive, no nonsense gear, and it definitely fits that criteria.  With all that said, I was saying that it's the limiting factor.

I didn't want to buy a 10x5 for the reasons you state.  I thought to myself that I should have my head examined for contemplating a $430 (at the time) cart.  When I heard it and the competition on my deck (Pro-Ject 1Xpression), my reservations went out the window.  It made my system sound that good.

Please don't think I'm pushing it, or anything else on you.  Just sharing my experiences and taking others' in, which is what forums are all about for me.

Just to add...

The 10x5 cost almost as much as my turntable before I added the Speed Box and acrylic platter.  The 10x5 made it sound like I upgraded about 3 steps.

Just my experience.  I think very highly of the cart.

Stu:
Thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can get my hands on a B60 after all.
Anyone interested in my 3B /.5B combo?

Hi,

I've had a listen to P1 vs new P3 few days ago as a friend of mine audition P3, so same situation as yours. We listen to P3 with external PS, but with same cart difference is pretty big in P3 advance. I can really recommend it.

hope this help,
Oz

Colhogan,

I don't know where you are from, but if you have a luck to check if your 3B is up to the spec, then there is nothing better than to add a better Bryston pre. Preamp is the soul of the system and source is the heart.
