The Flacs I have were ripped with dbpoweramp, the same guys that wrote the ASSET UpNP transaltion code.
24 bit LPCM is supported by Asset and Oppo, but I have not been able to get the HD files to play at that bit depth. They play as 16 bit.
This issue has been discussed on the DBpoweramp.com forums under Asset etc...I called Oppo and they say they can play 24 bit Flacs, there is a switch in the advanced options of Asset to support 24 bit, I have tried this and is doesnt seem to work. Oppo thinks its a Asset issue, Asset thinks its an Oppo issue??? Go figure.
I can not play FLACS on the notebook from foobar or winamp etc, have to have Asset running as a service on the notebook, connect via ethernet, have the network selectable from the Oppo main menu, drill down with the Oppo interface, which is being displayed via the HDMI to the TV LCD, find the song, and press play.
Now I think you can do this from a PC with other natively supported files. So you could use other interfaces on the pc if they are DLNA compliant etc...there is a marvelous thread on all this at:
