Hi Mike

The VR line really is meant for larger rooms and the 33 is one big speaker. It's even taller than the SRs and Fives. Albert was able to mitigate their bulk by allowing closer placement to the walls. I suspect that the $4000 VR-33s will spank the same priced Unifield 1 and the VR-35 XE would do the same for the similarly priced $7,500 UNifield 2 in a medium or large room.
The Unifield line on the other hand was Alberts response from international dealers for loudspeakers for use in smaller homes typically found in Europe, Asia and large cities like New York in the US with dorm room sized living areas. We asked for VR performance is small packages since we were having trouble selling the very large VR-4 SRs to condo dwellers and the VR-1, VR-2 and Jr Mk2 had been discontinued.
I think you are right that the Unifields withe the exception of the Unifield 3, which is one heck of a mighty mite, will and will continue to be passed over by the greater majority prospective US buyers in favor of the VR-33 and VR-35. Here in Asia, the reverse is true

Over here, either folks live in Condos, viva la Uni!, or houses as large or larger than in the US, vival la VR-11!
We're happy that Albert has taken an approach that commits quality according to usage rather than a linear product line up where price is the sole determinant.

BTW have you taken the plunge yet Mike?
Jack
