preamp with built in active crossover
« on: 21 Sep 2010, 09:30 am »
While several preamplifiers offer 2 outputs wired in paralle for bi-amping I cannot find on the market a pre with built in active crossovers for those of us who want to go active.  The advantages should be  considerable  particularly cost-wise; just one chassis , no additional interconnects and plug in frequency modules ,customer specified  for each output ( 2 or 3 ways)
James what is your opinion on this? How about combining  one  of your pre  and active crossovers?

Hi Bruno,

It depends on the type of crossover circuitry - if you wanted to go Digital or IC chip based with switching power supplies crossovers you could do it fairly easily.  In our case though where we use discrete components and Class A operating systems with linear power supplies it would be much more complicated in one chassis.
