FS: Bel Canto DAC 1
« on: 20 Sep 2010, 10:09 pm »
Hello,

Selling off my beloved Bel Canto DAC 1.  This is a well known and well approved line of DACs, and it sounds extremely analog.  As you can see, I have kept it in very good condition.  Although I am now using a Stello, this DAC gives it an incredible run for the money.  It has a great soundstage, crisp highs, and a pretty relaxed mid range.  The lows on this unit are very lush and get down pretty low.  I am pricing this to sell, it is very rare to find one of these nowadays, so grab one while you can!  Comes with original manual and a standard power cord.  Also comes in a padded box that is fit for the DAC 1. (Not 100% sure if this was the stock box, but it does fit it like it is.)

For full disclosure, there is something loose inside the unit.  It's also not affecting the sound at all, it just sort of vibrates a tiny bit with the sub at times.  I am noting it since it should be an easy fix for someone who is seasoned with electronics (or someone who could just open the thing up).  Again, this did not affect the sound at all and the DAC actually compares very well with the Stello and is a good step above the Beresford DACs.

My price is $250 shipped and Paypaled.

Send PM if anything, thanks.

I guess this is the manual with all the specs?  http://www.belcantodesign.com/pdfs/DAC1_userguide.pdf

In what general area are you located?

Thanks.  It's sometimes nice to have the reference material and also the location.  I may not have a real need for something, but I do have three systems (main and secondary bedroom and basement) and sometimes if I see something local that looks interesting I might take a look and listen and perhaps consider it vs. what I have.  It seems like a very nice DAC for the money.  I have a Bryston in the main system and an old Micromega in the basement.

I think there is a factory mod available for the DAC1 if anyone is interested.  That's what I have.  This DAC cost 1200.00 new.  Seems to me, this right here is a deal.

Thanks, definitely an awesome DAC for the money, also very rare to find.
