Component replacement in a Castanet
« on: 19 Sep 2010, 01:18 pm »
Has anyone tried swapping out the Hammonds and replacing them with Edcors? I hate to say it this way but I am looking for ways to reduce the initial build costs while trying to maintain the quality of the original design.

Thanks, Alan

What Edcors are you thinking of? The type of output transformer needed for a headphone amplifier is not terribly common.

At any rate, I wouldn't skimp on the output transformer. Wide bandwidth and impedance matching are worth paying for in a design such as this where you will be listening very closely.
