My wife and I recieved Pink Floyd tickets as a wedding gift (24 years ago in 8 days).  Once we returned from our honeymoon and were going back through the gifts and cards we noted that we couldn't find the tickets.  Apparently in all of the paper and confusion they had been thrown out, to this day my cousin (who gave us the tickets) still believes we sold them.  We were two bummed out newlyweds.  Neither of us have ever seen Pink Floyd in concert.

Best,
Ed

It's hard to think of just one.  I've been to a lot of rock concerts but I didn't really starting getting into jazz until I was in my mid 20s (I'm in my 50s now), and most of the jazz artists that I really like were long before my time.  There are also a few rock acts I wish I had seen.

Here are a few that come to mind...

Bill Evans at the Village Vanguard
Jimi Hendrix at the Fillmore East
Any performance of the Count Basie Orchestra with Lester Young as the featured tenor soloist
Any performance of the Duke Ellington Orchestra with Jimmy Blanton and Ben Webster
Anita O'Day at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival

Woodstock, the ultimate concert of my generation. I remember seeing posters advertising the event at a record store but I was only 15. Had it happened one or two years later I probably would've made it as the outdoor festival type concerts were a regular in the summers of 70 and 71.

I posted this story on another thread a month ago, but it fits here even better;

So I'm a 20-something on my motorcycle on way intown (Boston) to buy tix to the upcoming Ultravox concert at The Paradise. Some scruffy young kids from Belfast opening for them. Get flagged down by a red-haired lass with a peg tooth, one thing leads to another, never make it to the box office to buy the tix.

Well, the scruffy kids from Belfast who opened the show turned out to be U2, yes, that U2.

Just imagine, if not for the redhead today I'd be able to bore my son with stories of how I "SAW U2 BEFORE ANYONE KNEW WHO THEY WERE".

Dammit!!!!!!  :duh:
Well, you may curse it now.  But you had more fun than you planned on, right?

Led Zeppelin

I missed a chance to see them in June 1977 at the Forum in Los Angeles.  I had just graduated high school but went with my family to Lake Powell instead.  Little did I know that John Bonham would die in 1980 while they were rehearsing for their next US tour.

REO Speedwagon

I had tickets to see them in the early 80's in San Diego but they cancelled the show.

Pink Floyd -- 1995 -- Arrowhead Stadium; Kansas City, MO

I was 16 at the time.  The guy I worked for printing t-shirts (who was also a neighbor) was college roomates for the marketing/ticket guy for events at both stadiums (the other being the baseball stadium).  Pink Floyd was coming in town and my sister asked him to get tickets.  At the time, I was into country music and had no desire to see Pink Floyd.  Two of my sisters went. . .and I could have cared less.

I regret that to this day.  In less than 2-years, I was a major PF fan and am now a full-on PF superfreak.

Well, at least I have The Wall concert next Saturday to look forward to.  16th row floor tickets, too boot!

Would have loved to have seen Stevy Ray Vaughn. My wife has seen more groups than I can even imagine from Janis, Jimmy, Credence, Led Zep (before anyone knew who they were), The Who to a lot of newer groups. I am so jealous.

Well....back in the late 60's...on a number of occasions I had Fillmore East tickets to see the Jeff Beck Group (Rod Stewart singing)....and each time, the show was cancel for some reason

Amazing that the guy who bared his vocal cords on Plinth would wind up turning into a marshmallow! We need the old Rod back, if only for a little while. And Beck is still in good form, why not?

Bob Marley.  Back in the 70s I liked him but I liked a lot of other artists a lot more.  Too late to see him now and his live boots that I have heard are pretty good.  If anything my appreciation of his music has grown over the years.
