One live show you wished you had seen?

The only show/concert you truly wished you had experienced? Time table not relevant.

For me, Jimi Hendrix, Band of Gypsys, Filmore East.

I'm surprised how this work flies so far under the radar.

Simply too many to list. Off the top of my head:

Gov't Mule: 31 Dec. 1998

Over the years, I come to be a fan of particular venues as much as particular bands. Some places just seem to bring out the best in bands. Winterland Arena, The Agora (Cleveland OH), The Fillmore East, and Howard Stein's Academy Of Music (Later, the Palladium) in NYC.

Woodstock. It was 7 years before I was born, so no regrets.

I've always wanted to see KISS, but never had anyone that wanted to go. My boss had an extra ticket to see them last moonth, so I went with him and his teenage son and nephew. Such a great show. I'm really not a fan of their music, and I won't run out to buy a CD any time soon, but I gained a lot of respect for them as musicians. They played flawlessly while putting on an incredible show.

If you get the chance to see them, even if you don't care for their music, you really should go.

I guess Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon tour.
I did see the Animals tour which was quite a show.

Well....back in the late 60's...on a number of occasions I had Fillmore East tickets to see the Jeff Beck Group (Rod Stewart singing)....and each time, the show was cancel for some reason....

By the time I finally got to see Beck, Stewart was gone from the group.

Porcupine Tree, they were in Chicago a while ago and I missed them.
Would have liked to have seen Enigma also, but I don't think they toured as they (husband&wife) split up and they did their music from a studio I believe.A shame.

I've seen many concerts over the years, but one that I'd pay a kings ransom to go back in time to see live would be Alice Cooper in the mid-70's where he was "beheaded" by a guillotine on stage. I remember seeing that on television, and it scared the crap out of me (yeah, seemed pretty real to a 9 year old) - LOL!

If anyone has a link to that concert, please post it.

A number of years ago, Prince started a tour by booking small venues so that he could fine tune things before moving on to the big halls and arenas. On a couple days notice, he announced he'd be playing in a small hall near us. I'm not the biggest Prince fan on earth, but I know he's got a rep for doing incredible shows in these situations. I didn't go out of laziness and not wanting to pay the rather steep ticket price. However, after I heard the reports from those that went, I knew I'd made a mistake. Ok, I know this is two shows, not one, my bad. Another show I missed was Eric Clapton & Duane Allman with Derek & the Dominos. I had incredible center stage, close tickets to the show. However, I was a teenager living at home and I pissed of my mother over something and she refused to let me go. I had to give the tickets away to my girlfriend (later to be my wife.) She still rubs in it a little every now and then.

One of my all time favorite albums. Never saw them there but during the same time period did see them a few times at the Fillmore West. (not the same as a small club)

On the thread topic, can't say a particular concert, but would like to have seen Frank Sinatra.

The Who at Leeds. There's not a lot else I've missed, from the Band's Last Waltz tour to Springsteen's 1st national tour, being an old hippie does have some rewards. One of the downsides is certain levels of memory loss from those periods, I think I had a good time though.....

I missed the Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense" tour.

I was working a very high profile project (direct report to the CEO of a fortune 100 company). I had tickets to a show 2 hours from my home. The night before the show, I had gone to see The Clash and made it to work the next day with 2 hours sleep. When it was time to drive to see The Talking Heads, I was a basket case and simply went home to sleep.

I posted this story on another thread a month ago, but it fits here even better;

So I'm a 20-something on my motorcycle on way intown (Boston) to buy tix to the upcoming Ultravox concert at The Paradise. Some scruffy young kids from Belfast opening for them. Get flagged down by a red-haired lass with a peg tooth, one thing leads to another, never make it to the box office to buy the tix.

Well, the scruffy kids from Belfast who opened the show turned out to be U2, yes, that U2.

Just imagine, if not for the redhead today I'd be able to bore my son with stories of how I "SAW U2 BEFORE ANYONE KNEW WHO THEY WERE".

Dammit!!!!!!
