I've always loved the stuff from the Orb and to combine that with Gilmour is my version of having your cake and eating it too.

I've never heard of The Orb.  I am a huge Gilmour fan, so I will be checking this out.

I'm interested in the 3D stereo mix.  If you go to the link above, you can access the 360 site via a link below.  I'm curious on how they achieve the illusion on the vertical axis. :dunno:  I'm aware of the use of phase trickery to create a soundstage left and right. . .but again, how do they do height?

Off topic:

I have a couple of CD's that used Q-Sound and Sensaura 3D Sound Technology to pretty good effect. Stings "Soul Cages" and Roger Waters "Amused to Death" used Q-Sound, and Prefab Sprout used Sensura 3D on "Andromeda Heights". All of them sound excellent to my ears, and the 3D effects really do use the vertical as well as the horizontal. To be heard properly you need to be in a VERY narrow sweet spot, but they can be pretty amazing when you are. At the very end of "Soul Cages" Sting says "Good night". Every time I play it on my system it sounds like he is behind me, a couple of feet to my left, and about 3 feet above my listening position. It's very cool technology and I have no idea why it never took off. Apparently this technology is used heavily in the video game industry.

Another with the 3D type sound would be "UP" by Peter Gabriel.
