Ultimate 70 rebuild of Dynaco ST-70 amp – really a completely new amp. The only things reused were the output transformers (cloth lead) and the cage (refinished with new label). Upgrades include: Modern chromed chassis with high quality jack sets (properly spaced for banana plugs); New ceramic tube sockets; New Triode Electronics power transformer and choke; and AVA sourced rectifier tube and output tubes (Electro Harmonix). “The Ultimate 70 is a new AVA circuit set for the Dyna St-70 chassis. It consists of a brand new motherboard incorporating significant circuit enhancements, all new modern parts, and an improved layout. The audio circuit has been carefully engineered for the widest controlled bandwidth and stability under all conditions. Taking advantage of what we have learned from our Transcendence Seven and Fet Valve R-series products, the Ultimate 70 incorporates five regulated power supplies, including an isolated regulated bias supply. The result is the purest musical reproduction possible.”
“We think you will love the Ultimate 70 more than any other tube amp you have ever heard, price not an object. It is just simply lovely sounding. It takes every last bit of grain away from your records and CDs, but takes nothing else away at all. The highs just float. Transparency, detail, definition, range, and dynamics are wonderful. It's got a midrange to die for and bass extension and control you would not believe possible at this power and price. The sound stage is huge, the depth is pure reality, and the emotion of the music is all there, like you have never heard before.” Almost identical Ultravalve amplifier sells for $1699. Asking $900 OBO (less than the cost of the parts not including the ST-70 donor).  Lightly used for 6 mos, less than120 hours on tubes. Very good condition. Shipping to CONUS is $50.00 with exact cost to AK and HI.

Hey! What's up with the captive power cord? How hard would it be...

Frank (AVA) doesn't believe in IEC's or power cords.  EVERY single piece of gear he makes, has a captive power cord from Blue or Orange Depot.

This looks very nice. Now, where is the pin for setting the bias at 1.56?

Damn, why do I have to be broke now?  (oh yeah....it's the economy) The Stereo 70 is a classic that for me defines hifi for the common man.  And one w/ modern updates and the classic cage? Too cool. This has to be one of the nicest I've seen. Sure wish I could hear it. No, I wish I could buy it. Sadly I can't, but best of luck on your sale, and I envy the the eventual new owner.
