Too litte bass- and midrange - Cornet
« on: 28 Feb 2004, 05:05 pm »
I've still some problem with my Cornet - upgraded the C7, C8, C5, C5 with very good Mundorf caps +-2%. But still not enough bass- and midrange. The Bugle sounds much better in that range.
I've measured the resistors - all within spec. but R15, R17 - they are 900ohm and not 910ohm, R 16 is 148kohm not 150kohm. Could this be the reason ? Although tried three different manufactures of Tubes with no great difference.

I love the Cornet it sounds absolutly great but the lack of bass- midrange is very sad.

Thanks for any help

Your resistors are fine.  Did you get the capacitance values correct?  EQ response is virtually identical to Bugle when built to spec.  There should be no loss of bass.

What is your preamp load?  Are you running a passive pre?

jh :)

Problem is solved  :D

The ECC tube was wrong - bought some at ebay - the seller promised me that they are ECC82 tubes - they where NOS but the labels weren't readable. Found one old ECC82 at home and tried it : Everything sounds like it have to !

Thanks
