J A Michell Engineering? The Gyrodec, featured in Kubrick's 2001 film "A Clockwork Orange"? I believe the 'suspension' technoloy dates back to the Saturn TT?

A Gyro for $199? I don't think so. Maybe you could get around 20 gyro sandwiches for $199. Maybe in 1977 you could get 30, but they weren't around. At least I don't think they were.

The table in Clockwork Orange was a Transcriptors. I think it was the model called Skeleton.

Michell took over the Transcriptors co. They continued the Reference model.

Take a look at this Transrotor. Pretty cool lookin. But it's $39K. LOL

1977, $199, looked like a flying saucer. Hmmm...... I think I saw that episode of Columbo.

Here is the answer.About 1976 or 1977 the turntable in question was the Stanton Gyropoise 8004-11.It had 2 oppossing magnets which create a magnetic bearing on which the platter floated. There was no friction,no rubbing of metal against metal, nothing to lubricate. The only connection between the turntable and platter was through the belt.It was fully manual and single play. Thanks guys...Mark Korda
