spherical horns with OB bass

Hi all, my first post in the lab. Some of you may have seen my open baffle project in the ob section. I am running alpha 15" woofers, one in each baffle and 8" full range drivers. The bass is sublime and will be for keeps no matter what I attempt to do. The 8" full range drivers have a very flat response and  sound wonderful unless the music gets busy. I was advised to install a tweeter and so limit the fr unit to a narrower band, say 100Hz ( as it is now ) to 4000Hz, maybe 3000Hz. I am going to try some spherical horns ( tractrix ) and BMS comression drivers, as they are not too expensive for an experiment and are of good quality, so I'm told. At present I use a 2 way digital crossover and bi-amp and with the tweeter installed I will be using a 3 way digital crossover and tri-amping. If this works I may consider running a spherical horn from 4000Hz down but most only go down to 300Hz and my Alpha's sound dreadful at 300Hz. I would say 150Hz is their limit. Any ideas what to do.

oh well, no takers, I guess its been done before. I have searched the web and through various forums ended up back here on a thread started some time ago. At least I learned something from others efforts.

OK... I'll try.

You currently have 2 way using 15" and 8" full range now. You are adding tweeter to make this a 3 way. So, you will now have a 3 way and the xover frequencies you are considering are 100 and 3000.

This sounds like a good plan.... Where are you stuck? I guess if you really want to run a midrange horn down to 300Hz maybe you need to start thinking about a 4way.  :thumb:
