MFW-15 Hum
« on: 8 Sep 2010, 01:31 am »
I know this is not a issue for GR research. But I see allot of talk about the MFW. I am fairly sure that I have a fix for the hum. I am going to run it for a couple of days and see.

Danny,
I hope you don't mind the post if so I am sorry and please remove it.

Hi Murrel,
I had e-mailed you about a replacement amp for the MFW subwoofer, since you are now mentioned in the av123 website as a source for a replacement amp. You stated that the "V3 amp will be $225.00 plus shipping." Is this a new amp, or refurbished? Are you also going to repair amps for people? Any info about these amps for sale would be appreciated. I have 2 defective amps. One has a hum, but otherwise seems OK. The other has a hum plus some grungy distortion as well. I also did get one amp that works good as far as I can tell. 1 out of 3 ain't bad I guess.

Just saw that on the site...after going back over it a couple of times. If  someone from the old AV123 is reading this, please put that sentence in bold or a different color so that people know that it is an addition to the original notice. I would have never noticed it if it wasn't for milehighguy's post.

Thanks!

Milehighguy,

The V3 amps are brand new. I really dont want to repair the amps as I think there will be other options soon. Plus I do not believe I would make very much money repairing them. So far I am having very good luck with the hum fix. it is easy and can be done locally and you could save the shipping. Since you are local if you wanted you could bring your amps by if you like.

Murrel

I would consider repairing them but we are talking 50 dollars in shipping another 70 dollars in labor and parts minimum. I guess if someone wants to pay than then i would do it.
