I always wanted a full color poster of Roxy Music's "Avalon" cover!
Just fantastic.
It is the one SACD that I would never give up.  It sounds divine!
I probably own that album in every format, save 8-track!

Lyndon,

Even though you don't have an 8-track player, you should try to get it anyway.  You can then brag that you have it in every format.  :D  Did you go cycling in Europe this summer?

Ed,
That is great to hear. :thumb:
Paul,
I am so glad I purchased flight insurance because my June flight to Frankfurt was canceled due to that volcanic ash deal in June.
You get your money back with flight insurance, but NOt a same cost flight.  All I could find was double the cost of the original ticket.
So I drove across the Midwest, visiting an old AC member in Colorado, and helping my 92 year old mother in Illinois.
Hope you've had a good year.

Right now I am ripping my huge cd library to hard drive.  Don't even want to think of getting near an 8 track machine! :nono:

Back to album covers
My favorite Captain Beefheart photo is on the back of Zappa's "Hot Rats"
I think it is using infrared film
But this wasn't a bad shot of him.  And the covers with his own paintings are pretty sweet. Best concept was 'Clear Spot", a vinyl record in a clear plastic album jacket.

I used to think it was a stupid album cover and didn't have much to do with the album itself.  After I heard why, it totally made sense and became one of my favorites...

Metallica originally wanted to name the album "Metal Up Your Ass."  The record company execs nixed it and the artwork - a drawn toilet with a hand holding a knife coming out of it.  The late, great bassist Cliff Burton came up with the album name and cover concept when asked what they should do about the execs.

Record company execs.  Where would we be without them.
