Blew our minds in 1968. Just when you thought you'd seen an original cover, The Beatles do a white gatefold. Wow. Oh, and the seeds that saw the inside crease over the next 10 years!!

Check out King Crimson's Court of the Crimson King, both front, back and inside cover.
I can't for the life of me transfer pictures on to this post.
My cousin had a friend paint the face on the inside cover on his bedroom wall covering the entire wall. It was something to see,
