Bryston BP25 problem
« on: 2 Sep 2010, 11:56 am »
I have an Bryston BP25 with MPS1 from 2002. Recently it suffer from channel imbalance at low volume. And it it has a slight hum from the bad channel. Is it the alps blue pot that wears out?  I listen often at night after work so its really annoying.

Best regards Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

I once experienced the exact same problem, discovered that the connector from the MPS1 to the back of the BP25 was only partially inserted.
May not be the problem but a good idea to check it anyway.

thanks for your reply. I checked it out but it is fully inserted. Its like if the volume were in ,lets say 10 steps, the first step is 80% left channel and 2step 60% left channel and step 3-10 its ok 50-50. Its like it needs more power to work properly. Could it be the MPS1 thats gone bad?

Anythings possible, try swapping cables, source, pre/amp, does the mono switch send equal signals to the amp?
