After launching the 50 year anniversary Treasure series in 2008, world's largest vacuum tube manufacturer Shuguang has been developing new additions to its high end tube line to include large power tubes and small preamp tubes. With venture capital from UK and countless testing by Shuguang's Treasure design team, a new series called "Psvane" (pronounced as 'Pavane' - the brand is created from the inspiration of the 17th century classic music dance) T-series has born in Aug 2010. Now Grant Fidelity is the first and the only distributor authorized to resell the Pavane T-series in North America.

The Pavane T-series now include the following models: 845, 805, 211, 12AX7, 12AU7, 12AT7 and EL84. They are great compliment to the hugely successful Treasure series which includes the common EL34, KT88, KT66, 300B, 2A3 and 6SN7.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to ask the obvious.

What are the differences in construction, design, materials, etc from the "normal" Shuguang tubes?  That 12AX7 looks very similar to my Shuguang 12AX7 9th generation, for example..

How long is the warranty ? Is it a factory warranty only ?  Are you the exclusive importer/ distributor or just reseller ? Do you maintain stock ?

I am always looking for good (different) 12AU7 and 6SN7 tubes for our Purity linestages. BRM, do keep us posted on your thoughts on the 12AU7.

Still considering some Treasure 6SN7's for the Purity Basis Pre

I've certainly had excellent luck with the tubes from Grant Fidelity....

I 2nd the questions on especially the warranty and what makes these different then their other line of tubes....

Looks interesting!
I wonder if this is phasing out the TJ Full Music brand that was carried?

BRM, like to hear your impressions as well.

Rachel @ Grant Fidelity

I 2nd the questions on especially the warranty and what makes these different then their other line of tubes....

All high voltage tubes warranty is 30 days - as many factors at user side would cause a mishap to tubes running at 900+ Volts, so factory put in a tight warranty policy.

Many past Shuguang tubes reliability issue is related to lack of distribution quality control (reseller not retest tubes after receiving them from overseas and before selling them). Grant Fidelity re-test tube we sell so the bad ones will be screened out by us first and not sold to customers. We have less than 1% defect ratio on the Treasure tubes we distributed.

Having said that, high voltage tubes are different from KT88's, 300B's etc.. On our website there is a list of precautions in using high voltage tubes.

The new Pavane series also have wider diameter and shorter - tubes run at lower temp than previous versions and heat dissipate faster. This will help with tube reliability as well.

We phase out TJ brand for business reasons, not for quality of their tubes. TJ and Shuguang are competitors - and we choose what makes the most sense for our business - shipping reliability, purchase cost etc... of course we cannot carry endless line of products - like any other business, we need to control our inventory holding too :) TJ tubes have been sold well by Sophia over years - that speaks for their quality.

Hope this helps.
Rachel

Do not most 211 based amps have a B+ rail voltage of 900 + volts ? How can a user besides using the improper bias setting be responsible for a mishap ? Ya plug in in set the bias and life is good. Warm it up for 15 minutes and hit play.
I would expect that a new "reference" tube might have a longer warranty. just a thought. Can an extended warranty be had ? If so if the tubes are "reference " quality why not. No more Full Music tubes from you ?
Well good luck with your new venture.

Hi John,

You are quite correct, I can't see any physical difference, but the sonic difference is quite noticeable. Maybe Rachel will get some technical info what is new in the production.

I have just completed phase 1 of my listening sessions which I will be posting soon. We get the best quality 12AX7B 9th gen as a stock tube from Shuguang (there is 10th gen, found it in the new Treasure amps we have just launched, gold label 12AX7B) so these aren't the typical cheese you get off eBay etc. Compared to Pavane 12AX7 the 12AX7B sounds small, thin, 2 dimensional and bright. Just double checked with Tom Petty's Saving Grace and the Pavane's make the intro dance while holding a rock steady image, guitars have nice crunch and realistic tone, when the song kicks in everything expands into big, where with the 12AX7B it just gets louder.

I'm not sure that I have enough time on these tubes yet to make proper judgement, maybe 75 hours of play time on a CDP and just put them in the 300B SET amp yesterday. I should be posting my first impressions up against the TJ FullMusic 12AX7s today or tomorrow.

Same John L from AK?

Cheers,
Ian

Whoever gets in one a pair of these let us know how they sound.

If they are good, I could use a pair in my Response preamp, and quads in my Dodd phono.

Big Red Machine

Received my shipping notice.  I can only try one of these in the dac as my pre uses the 6922 family.

Rachel @ Grant Fidelity

Most 12AX7 and 12AU7 orders have been sent today by airmail. We have limited pairs as first batch samples. New shipment should be in by Sept 5th then all shipping will commence.

Thank you for everyone's support! Please do post your listening impressions once you get the tubes...on our website or on forums, wherever as you wish :)
