What setup for movies and music?
« on: 24 Aug 2010, 11:53 pm »
I am scaling back and am going to run one system for both movies and music.
Thinking of a couple options:

Denon AVR4310 (already own) plus an amp for the main two channels. Maybe something like a Modwright KWA100.

Buy an Arcam AVR600/AVR500. Reviewed as one of the best sounding AV receivers out there.

The rest of the system includes, Modwright Transporter, Gallo Strada L, C and R, Adiva Ti rears, Genesis 928 sub, Oppo BDP-83.

I think budget and common sense would have to say since you have the 4310 already go that route.  Depending on what quality of 2-channel you are used to though......  If the 4310 left you wanting then give the Arcam a listen but before buying I'd have to put it up against separates in that price.  Marantz and coming soon Onkyo both have HT preamps and matching amps.  I'd also have to see how much more Anthem separates would take me over the Arcam.  I've heard good things about the AVR-600, I'd just have to put my mind to rest that it could actually out perform separates.
