I am considering that...I can refinish, just not cut& build.  So honestly---can you or anyone say that the N2X's would outperform the LSi9's across the board?  IE resolve, dynamics etc...?

I am answering this question asked in another circle.

My measurements show a couple of break up peaks in the poly cone woofers at 700Hz and 1kHz that still hold it back. The tweeters though are not bad at all.

If you upgraded the parts quality of the Polk, I'd still put it about one level below my A/V-2. It is another MTM 4 ohm speaker. http://www.gr-research.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=102

The N2X is in a different league. I'd more closely compare it to another speaker that I designed the crossovers for. The Usher BE-718: http://www.usheraudiousa.com/products/loudspeakers/dancer-series/Be-718

The Usher, being ported has it covered on low end extension, but in other areas the N2X has a few slight advantages. It's a good comparison though.

Looks like the n2x would be the best route, and no fighting huge impedance dips.
