In the "Hard Wired vs. plugged connectors" thread of the "Path of Least Resistance" forum, you have yet another smart-ass comment. I enjoy looking for your condescending smart-ass comments to reinforce why I never buy your products. Grow up dude.

Meaningful advice from someone whose avatar is a picture of himself sticking his finger up his nose and out his eye socket.

Just thought I'd say it before this thread rockets to the intergalactic wastebin.

The fact that you "look for" his comments to remind yourself "why [you] never buy his equipment" says a lot more about you than about him. Nobody is making you read his posts OR buy his equipment. Plenty of other stuff out there.

Is it possible to buy a sense of humor on ebay?

This is deadly serious business. Get "magic cable" people on the warpath, and they are dangerous. They are *magic*, you know!

I sent Frank my turntable, CD player, tuner, antenna,  preamp, amp, and speakers and he hardwired the whole thing together with 16-conductor woven skien Litz Wire and gold solder, and then sent it back to me back to me via chartered 18-wheeler. Sure, it was expensive, but you know, unlike the rest of you darn Philistines, I really care about my audiophile poser status, er, r^H^H^H^H^H^H^H  *the music*.

I have owned Frank's products in the past and instead of spending 5 -7 grand, I spent 2 grand and got an amp that was just as good.  Frank builds top notch sounding gear -regardless- .  I share his philosophy on "magic wires" and prefer to stick with things that make a massive, real  difference by compare:  better components and better speakers. Wires do not increase resolve...they filter the output.  If anyone of you makes better gear than Frank, please...cast the 1st stone.  $2K  on a good amp is better than $30K on wire.

Brett, I hope that 18 wheeler was refrigerated to provide the proper cryo conditions.

You know there may actually be something to this cryo stuff.  In case no one has noticed, there seems to be a concentration of superb hifi equipment coming out of the upper midwest, where spring/summer/autumn last about 6 weeks.

I think it's all those cryo-treated ears.  Maybe I should try it...

I cryo-treated some blue moon ale.  It's much improved when it's really cold.

After what happened today, I have to take it all back. I think Nosefinger is right after all. As mentioned in another thread, I got this new Fluke multimeter to go with the U70. You should see the leads that it came with, they are thin and tinny and just plain yucky. So I took them to a buddy at JPL, and he deoxed them in the  triple-point chamber overnight, then ran them through the Pauli interferometer to get rid of any residual stray orbitals. After I got them back, I reset the bias on the amp and now I have tighter bass, floating highs and the imaging is to die for.

Hi,

Why would someone post in a manufacturer's circle that he obviously has a problem with?

I guess if I had the money to throw away I might buy expensive cables but I prefer to put most of my money into equipment  8).

I realized that some of you guys would run to Frank's defense since you're part of the AVA cult, but did it ever occur to you (and Frank) that maybe not being a smart-ass in other people's forums might be a good idea? I know he doesn't believe in audio foo-foo and puts emphasis on solid engineering, but that doesn't mean that he has to belittle those who believe in boutique caps or bare wire connections on their components. Why not say nothing instead?

Check out the class and decorum that James Tanner exhibits in his Bryston circle. That would be a good role model. Being a smart-ass is funny to some of you but to me, I wouldn't buy from AVA because of this. You can gain more customers from being civil than being condescending.

One more thing; if Frank doesn't believe in foo-foo, then why does he not publish specs. for his products? Because we wouldn't understand what they mean, because they're not good, because they have nothing to do with the sound? I would think that someone who is grounded in the solid engineering philosophy would do so.

If you check out Frank's website, it very clearly has a section in there explaining specs and why he doesn't post them. For most buyers, there are enough specs available to make an informed purchase, and if you want more, he's been more than happy via phone, email, or forum to make whatever available to you to give you a warm fuzzy. I'd take that service over the many websites who post a wonky looking freq response curve and give you a  1-800 number to nowhere.

Another thing, bringing up specs is a strawman argument. If you have a listener who's followed the marketing rabbit hole into botique caps and magic cables based on bogus science, what good does it do to place them in an environment where they'd have to make a technical decision?

I'm not a part of any "AVA cult", and I don't own any AVA equipment.  I just don't understand why someone would actually create a topic for the specific purpose of calling someone out to chide them.
